Access to energy is much more than just lighting: iluméxico provides solar as a service for rural, off-grid households, creating a seamless experience for their customers. Their goal is to improve the lives of a million people by 2025 through access to a sustainable, consistent source of energy that is safe and reliable. More than 500,000 families in Mexico depend on candles, diesel lamps or other sources of light that are inefficient, costly, damaging to their health and that pollute the environment. These families live in marginalized communities that are isolated and difficult to access, meaning they are not connected to the traditional electrical grid due to the prohibitive costs of installing the posts and cables required to reach them. But iluméxico believes no family is "too far" away to receive a human right. With their solar service, iluméxico installs high-quality permanent energy solutions in customers' homes, substituting polluting sources of light for clean, affordable and user-friendly electricity access. The service includes lifetime maintenance visits and customer support. By providing access to clean energy-- and by doing in a permanent way-- iluméxico seeks to promote positive change within these communities, specifically regarding access to basic services, education, health and opportunities for economic growth
Impact
iluméxico gives over 100.000 people access to clean energy technology. To date over 2000 remote off-grid communities have been electrified, and each solar installation saves up to 1 tonne of CO2e per year. Additional benefits include reducing the air pollution inside households, and improving the health and safety of communities.

iluméxico (ERES, Energía Renovable, SAPI de CV) was founded in 2009 by 8 young engineers with the aim of improving energy access throughout Mexico via sustainable and inclusive solutions.
Iluméxico has branch offices (ilucentros) in over 10 states across Mexico, in addition to their headquarters and manufacturing plant in Mexico City.

Since 2017, iluméxico has been GIIRS Certified, which is a global impact investment certification that ensures the measurement of impact in various areas such as workers, customers, communities and the environment.
